Our Story
Historically, mountaineering has been reserved for the adventurous few with the wealth and means to pursue it.
This is because much of the knowledge needed to become a safe and skilled mountaineer is learned through experience, shared around campfires, and passed from teacher to student. It’s more about who you know than what.
My dad taught me everything I know about the mountains. He had to piece these lessons together through years of trial, error, and perseverance, then pass them onto me.
This website is a testament to that relationship, and to all those who have learned the hard way and chosen to share their knowledge generously.
By bringing together the stories, skills, and insights of experienced mountaineers, wee stoat aims to make the outdoors accessible to everyone regardless of background, wealth, or starting point.
